Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has accepted an invitation from the Universal Peace Foundation to co-chair its World Peace Summit in South Korea this November. The invitation was accepted during Thursday morning’s virtual meeting. The UPF is a network of peacebuilders which works with the United Nations and governments around the world.
The Director-General of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification International, Mr. Yun Young-ho and UPF’s co-founder Mr. Hak Ja Han Moon met virtually with the Prime Minister on Thursday. They welcomed his support of the Foundation and invited the Prime Minister to submit a nomination for the Sunhak Peace Prize.
The prize is awarded twice a year in recognition of individuals and organizations that have made enduring contributions to help resolve worldwide suffering, conflict, poverty and threats to the environment, by promoting a comprehensive, future-oriented vision of peace.
Thursday’s virtual meeting ended with a recommendation from the Prime Minister that the UPF and Mekong countries should cooperate more closely on food security, taking advantage of the already close relationship between the Mekong nations and South Korea.
